What’s in a Name?

I’ve been asked why do you call yourself The Joyful Elephant?  Well, ever since I can remember I have simply adored elephants.  At age 4 I made an elephant out of clay in art class.  The teacher gave us a lump of soft brown clay and told us to make it into anything we wanted.  Most kids made a bowl, or rolled it into a ball.  I made an elephant from images in my mind. That clay elephant was then glazed and kiln fired.  (I plan on posting a photo of that ceramic elephant on this page.) 

 

How do I explain my attraction to elephants?  It’s instinctive, intuitive, and contained in my earliest memories.  Elephants are motherly and very family-oriented; they stick together and take care of each other.  Also, they eat a 100% plant-based diet, and are some of the largest and strongest animals on earth!

I call myself a food coach because I believe that the best health is achieved by making choices. Sometimes we need a coach to help us make those choices.  How many times have you said, “I know I shouldn’t eat that, but I still do.”  “I want to exercise more, but I’m tired all the time.”

I feel tired a lot, especially in the afternoons.

Why choose me to be your food coach? 

I have a background in coaching.  I founded and operate The Trent Group, LLC, a results-oriented small business consulting service since 2004.  I have been coaching entrepreneurs to focus on their strengths to build strong businesses.  I have helped them to overcome obstacles to growth, and to work smarter and more efficiently.

 

Personally, I have overcome obstacles in transitioning to this way of eating and have also helped many people, friends and family included, to overcome their own personal obstacles.  I have seen great results that include weight loss, pain reduction, and wonderful improvements in blood cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
